You could find a loose crimp connector, or maybe just some twisted wires, a wirenut or electrical tape connection. Don't hesitate to give all connections a slight tug to make sure they are secure. The wire that connects the left & right sides MAY be threaded through the middle of the axle - or it may be outside it.

They should be connected together, and also to a blue (at least blue is the normal color code for brakes) wire that will emerge from the frame and or PUP floor somewhere in the vicinity. Look up high, they likely come through the upper part of the backing plate on both the left & right sides. It will be the only wire in the area that could logically go to a brake. On the back (inside) of each brake backing plate behind each wheel there should be one small brake magnet wire coming out. Report back and we can walk though some ways to troubleshoot the TV, but taking a look at the wiring at the 7 pin connector is the first stepĬlick to expand. Before you do that, you might want to grab a flashlight and crawl underneath the PUP (from just behind the axle is probably best) and see if the brake magnet wires are connected to a blue wire coming back from the connector. just had my new brake controller installed, the new tekonsha that is newer than the prodigy and for 30 the outfit ordered a whole new wiring harness that would hook into this new brake controller without having to splice wires or use any connectors mid stream at all.
#PRODIGY BRAKE CONTROLLER TV#
If all is well on the PUP end, then the problem is wiring (or brake controller) on the TV end.

Or the wire isn't connected well to the back of the 7 pin. Since odds are both brake magnets arent bad, look for a broken wire as opposed to having to bad magnets. If its very high (infinity) it means there is a broken wire between the 7 pin and the brakes. Doubt this is the case as I think prodigy give a specific error code if there is a short. If its less than this close to 0 there is a short to chassis somewhere in the PUP wiring, or a bad brake magnet. If you see about 2.5 Ohms that means your trailer wiring and brake magnets are good. Not sure what yours should be but if you dont know that will be a ballpark #). (thats qty two of 5 Ohm each brake magnets left & right in parallel gives 2.5. Using a volt-ohm meter set to measure resistance (Ohms), with the 7 pin disconnected between the TV and PUP, measure (on the 7 pin connected to your PUP) the resistance between the pin that the blue wire goes (pin 2) and the pin the white ground wire (pin 1) goes to.
